Eat Local

Last night, we watched PBS. Actually it just stayed on PBS after Maya and Miguel was over as we played and cooked and cleaned - all inside, of course, to avoid the dirt storm. And a show I'd never seen before was on - The Endless Feast.

The show brings stars chefs and food lovers together with local farmers and artisans to produce an amazing meal that's served outside on the farm. It's all about eating local, loving the land, and sustainable agricultural. I was so impressed. It won me over!

Just think about it... It is fresher than anything in the supermarket and that means it is tastier and more nutritious. It is also good for your local economy--buying directly from family farmers helps them stay in business.

I may have to move to Austin after a spiel like that but, it's true! So I decided to do some searching to see where I might be able to "eat locally" and that's when I found http://www.localharvest.org/ - just type in your zip code and it will tell you about farms in your area. They offer free shipping on lots of items in their online store.

Look to see what's available in your area!
