May I Have This Dance

My friend Dacia, Stephen's cousin, emailed about his newest CD. Stephen has placed it on facebook for preview. I've been listening to it this morning and it's great worship music.

Check out "Rescued", "May I have this Dance", "No one Like God", "Sing a New Song" ... really all of them.

This is what Dacia says:
Stephen is incredibly talented and uses his gifts for God's purpose. I'm so very proud of him. His music is primarily based directly out of Scripture. This is his third CD. The other two, which we have 2 copies each, are about worn out around our house. It is funny to me that this is the kid I used to sit around the piano with and sing. He is 3 years younger than me and 1.5 older than my brother. He's a good friend and a great cousin. Mostly, he's my brother ... in the Lord. I'm so grateful.

Here are the lyrics to "May I Have This Dance" and the story behind why Stephen wrote it ...

"If I possess any creativity at all, or any ability to write songs that other people might want to hear and even sing, I can’t take any credit. It is entirely a gift from God, and I am humbled that He would be gracious to declare His truth through me. This song is no different, but at the same time it is different from the other songs that I’ve written in the sense that it’s written not from the perspective of ‘me’ or ‘us’ singing about Who God is and the things that He’s done. It’s from God’s perspective, singing to us about who He has created us to be and what He’s made us for. This is a song that I never sing casually, because I know I’m not singing my own words. This is an invitation. It’s not complex, it’s actually very simple. But the One who extends it is the Creator of the universe, the One who formed us and knew us before we were born. He loves us, and wants us to trust Him competely, to obey His perfect will. We can only do that if we are following His lead. My prayer is that as you listen to this song, you will hear the call of the Creator. And when you hear His call, that you would respond with a whole heart".

May I Have This Dance

Beauty is what I see

As you’re standing in front of me

A reflection of my heart

Crafted for my delight

You were made for glory and light

To display My majesty

This might surprise You

But give me a chance

The question I’m dying to ask…(chorus)

May I have this dance?A divine romance

I’ll take you by the hand

And waltz through eternity

Put your trust in Me

Will you let Me lead?

I’ll sweep you off your feet

If you’ll let Me have this dance

Come here, don’t be afraid

As you draw near only be brave

And surrender to My song

Let go, lose all control

And just give yourself to the

Rhythm of following My touch

I will not hurt youI’ll do no harm

As I take you into My arms(chorus)

May I have this dance?A divine romance

I’ll take you by the hand

And waltz through eternity

Put your trust in Me

Will you let Me lead?

I’ll sweep you off your feet

If you’ll let Me have this dance
